They Might Be Giants' phone is ringing off the hook. With their major-label debut, Flood, washing over the college-radio airwaves and a tour under way, the band's Dial-a-Song number (718-387-6962) is busier than ever, cranking out a new tune daily.
After three albums chock-full of one- and two-minute slices of goofy pop, the Giants--the Brooklyn-based duo John Flansburgh and John Linnell--are finally being taken seriously. "We were tired of everyone calling us wacky and quirky," says Flansburgh. "But now that everyone's calling us serious, we're getting sick of that too."
